What's Coming In July!
July Lesson Details
Mixolydian Scale
- This scale gets used in blues, country, rock, bluegrass... It's a type of major scale and another common tonality. Learn it in every position attached to common shapes
Western Swing/Country Jazz Button Lick
- This is a great lick that can be used as a button at the end of a solo or phrase or as a ending lick to set up a stinger. We'll learn this in G on every string set
Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down Intro
- This is a classic country tune that everyone who plays the style is expected to know. The intro is performed by Ralph Mooney on Steel and Roy Nichols on Guitar. We'll be learning both parts so you can play this at your next gig.
July 23rd - Dead Thumb Masterclass
- This is very cool hybrid picking technique where you provide a quarter note thump with your thumb or pick and then play melodies against it. Great for swampy Americana, Blues and Rockabilly.
Country Piano For Guitar(You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly)
- Sometimes you play country tunes that have piano driving the rhythm. If there is no piano you're expected to play the rhythm on guitar. In this lesson, I'll show you an arrangement of a cool funky country piano rhythm to be played on guitar. This one comes right from the Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn tune "You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly"
- Go introduce yourself to the other members. We'd love to meet you

- Every lesson is connected to a community thread. This is where you can ask me questions and post videos of your playing to get feedback from me.
